The best things in life are free
The best things in life are free
It is so true about what they say, the best things in life are free and believe me I know that first hand. I grew up poor and I longed for the "good life" so when I met my ex-husband and he offered me all of that, I thought I was in heaven. We had a nice house, fancy cars, big vacations, lots of toys, fancy clothes and yet I was dying inside, I was so miserable and unhappy. Yes, I had all the "material" things I could ever wish for but the trade off was my soul.
I always say everything happens for a reason and yes, I so believe it does. Growing up I basically had no family, I am an only child and when my mom passed away I said to my favorite cousin, that now I am a orphan, (My dad had past away years before)
So she got together with all of my dad's family and had a family reunion for me and my girls, to show us that I had a family and that they loved us. Now most of my family is working class and don't have a lot but they have heart and they have lots of love, which I really needed at this time.
Since that day we have kept in touch. We call, we Facebook, we visit, we are a family and I am blessed to have them in my life. See I believe God knew I was getting ready to walk away and that I would need the love of my family. He knew all of "our" friends and his family would walk away from me, so in his divine glory he brought me my own family to support me. I have a large, potty mouth family, and yes, there are fights but there is so much more love and respect.
This crazy Italian family fills me with joy and love and I am so grateful for each and every one of them. I know that I can be myself with them, they crack me up and I feel truly loved, unconditionally.
Yes, I don't have a lot of money, or the big house or fancy cars anymore but what I do have now is love and joy. I have a peace in my heart that I have never felt before. I know everything will be alright for I have found the most priceless gift: love through God, the love of my girls, the love of my family and friends and the love of myself, which is worth more than money can buy.
So today my friends, check yourself, are you selling your soul for that Gucci bag? That fancy house that you cry yourself to sleep in every day? Does all that money and material things really make you happy?
I hope that this virus teaches all of us something, what really matters, our health, our families and our peace of mind throughout these tough times.
You need to know what is important to you, what means more than money and status, so it can give you the courage to walk away on faith. Trust and believe that God will open doors you never knew existed, and it will be better than you have ever dreamt and guess what? All of this is free.
