Dating as a strong independent women

The other day I was honored to be able to speak at a women's group and after my speech we all started to talk.
Now picture this,10 strong, beautiful, independent, self sufficient business women all sitting around talking about dating in today's world.
Yeah, you had to be a fly on that wall... it was a hell of a conversation. We all had horror stories to tell each other about dating and the men out there today and the stories just kept coming.

It is hard enough to date in today's society but when your a strong, independent women, that's a whole other type of special. Men are intimidated by us, we got this, some of us make more money then they do, we own our own homes, we pay for our new cars, we got it going on and it may seem that we don't need a man in our lives.

But there is a difference between wanting and needing, I don't need a man to "take care" of me. I want a man to be there for me, to support me in other ways, to be there after a hard day, a shoulder to cry on, to be my partner in life.

I don't need a man to fix everything, I want a man who can be there to bounce things off of, to encourage me like I will encourage him.

I want a partnership but I still want a real man, I will treat him as a king, but trust me I will be that strong queen besides him. I was in a dominant, controlling relationship I am not looking for a warden, I am looking for someone to share lives adventures with as equals.

We all spoke about men who just want one thing, men who have no manners and men who think it's okay to send dick pics (Ha! And I thought I was the only one who was unlucky enough to get them)
Which seems to be a trend, so for my men readers who do this or know someone who does, let me inform you of how much we laughed at you, and laughed and laughed.

Yeah, you seen one, you've seen them all, you ain't special, so just don't send them.
Okay, where was I? Sorry I was laughing and almost fell off the treadmill.

Dating is tough for everyone but when you are a strong independent women, it's even tougher.
We want the same things other women want, we want love, a gentleman, romance and a honest, trustworthy man. We want a relationship and just because we are independent doesn't make us "bitches" or women who want to be in control of everything, it just means we are like you. We like our careers, we want to be successful, we are good at what we do, so why do we get that label just because we want more out of life?

I was blessed to meet these amazing women and trust me I know a lot of other amazing, strong women as well. This myth that's out there that we want to tear each other down is just a myth or it may be real for girls, but not real women.

If you guys would just open your mind up and forget the fact that we are successful, you would find some of the most incredible women right there in front of your eyes.

So my today my friends and all my queens remember until then, we will wait for a strong man who values us and what we bring to the table. Don't give up, they are out there. Hell, I was raised by a man who encouraged me and my mom to be independent, so  there is hope.
I know that is hard and it is sure a trip dating today as a strong independent women but don't give up, be like me Tinker bell and believe in happily ever after.
