Automated phones and how they drive you nuts

Okay, is it just me or do these automated phone systems drive you nuts too?
Seriously I miss the dark ages when real people answered the phones, when they could speak and understand English. Oh....let's not even go there as I don't know which is worst.

They tell you to press a number, you press the number and for the next 4 times they keep telling you "Please press a number"
Now at this point I am getting mad and I start to talk to my phone "I am pressing the number"

Then they say " We can't understand you" (yugg! Of course you can't your a machine!)
"Please speak the command" So now I try to speak the command. Well, I don't know about you but my voice text hates my New York accent and apparently so does any automated system, as it say again. "We do not understand, please speak your request again"

Yugggg!
Now I am yelling my request into the phone as if saying it louder will help.

After a few attempts it then says "I'm sorry we can't understand your command, please call back later"

And then it hangs up on you!
Now I am hot, I am a busy person with 2 kids, 3 jobs and school I am attending. I am lucky I had this 5 lousy minutes to take care of this phone call I needed to make and now I have to start all over!

So I try again....press 1, now I am pressing hard as if that will help but no it takes you right back to "Please speak your command"
At this point I am screaming and cursing my command into the phone.
"I am telling you! Customer service!! Representative!!! Operator!!
(Wait does anyone say Operator any more? Hell I'm desperate here, I'm trying anything)

Again this bitch hangs up on me! Omg!! If you want to guess what gives the most people heart attacks, it's probably screaming into the phone at a automated system.

I know most of you are laughing by now as you have been here. If you are finally lucky enough to somehow scream the right answer and the system magically unlocks, you think yes! I am in!

NOT! Now you are on hold for one of the 2 operators that are in India and who are actually awake over there. So now you sit here listening to that God awful music or agggg... that sound, whatever the hell it is that is meant to truly drive you crazy or at the very least drive you to hang up.

20 minutes and finally...Hello! You cry out when they finally pick up, your like a drowning man calling out to a life boat...Hello!

Look, I get everyone is trying to make a living but if you are going to work in customer service you need to speak the language.
It's like people who work in a store and they are rude as hell. I always say you should work with dead people since  that's the personality you have. Why work with customers if your like that? Seriously?

Back to India... so you spill your guts to him and he says "What is it you want?"

"What? Did you not just hear my 5 minutes of explaining?" I ask trying to keep my cool...key word...trying.

So I explain it yet again and he now repeats what I just said totally wrong because he doesn't speak English!!

When I say "Excuse me" for the next 2 minutes  because I can't understand what he is saying, now he copes an attitude with me? Hello!
Seriously? So I try to be as nice as possible which there isn't much left in me and say "I can not understand you, sorry"

Now he goes on telling me he's speaking English and what's wrong with me? With me?
"Well I've been pushing these dam buttons, trying to talk to your system, which then hung up on me 2 times. I then finally get through only to be put on hold for 20 minutes to finally get you and I tell you my frigging story 3 times because English isn't your first language and you obviously don't understand it and now your mad at me that I am telling you I don't understand you?"

Trust and believe he learned English fast enough to say goodbye and hang up on my ass!
Yuggggggghhhh!!!
I am starting to sound like Charlie Brown...
Yugggggghhhhh!!!

I miss the old days when you can slam the phone on the hanger 3 or 4 times to make yourself feel better.
All the old people are laughing now because we know the satisfaction it gave us to do that!

At this point almost an hour has went by, my blood pressure is now through the roof and I am so mad I could and have screamed!

I know I am not the only one this has happened to and continues to happen to on a almost daily basis. Why?? Why is so hard to go back to shit that worked, like talking to real people?

I guess we are all going to have to get use to this system as it doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.

So in the mean time maybe we can get automated systems that we can push 1 if your from New York, 2 if your from Georgia, 3 if your from Texas and so on, so at least you will get a automated system that understands you and your accent.
In the mean time I will be here cursing and yelling at my phone...
