Taking ownership over your spiritual development

Taking ownership over your spiritual development

We really don't love God like we use to. Like many of you who are married or in relationships, your there but the juice is gone...

It's the same with God, we are here, we come to church, it's a just a thing we do but we lost our juice.

It's like when you spend all of your life and all your time in your children lives but now that they are grown they still want you to take over their lives. You haven't taught them to be an adult, this is not their fault, it's yours.

It's the same thing with being a Christian, at some point in your life you need to grow up, you need to own your self development, your faith walk.
We need to grow up as a people, we need to leave others, we need to walk away from those who raised us.

We may have been Christians for a long time but we are still babies in our walk.
We have an attitude, we blame others, everyone is wrong and you are right. You do not understand that the process in life is there to delvop you, not harm you.
When friends betrayed you, when your relationship dies, when people talk about you, you need to learn what is it. You need to learn from it.
Your not learning because you are letting the process of life turn you bitter.

Your asking why me, instead of what is the lesson here?

Peter said  "But grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and the day of eternity"

Peter says grow and develop... you are not ready for a marriage, your not ready for that job promotion, your not ready for the riches, you need to grow and mature first.

I know many of us are thinking we don't have time to play at this stage in our lifes...
You have zero tolerance for games. And God gets that but you still may not be ready for what he has for you.
Maybe he knows that there are people who don't know you but they hate you, they know nothing about you and they will criticize you and you are trying to convince them of who you are.
He needs you to be ready for the haters, to stand firm in your faith of him.
Don't worry about people, you just need to live your life the way you know God wants you to live it.

God also wants you to looked beyond your faults because he loves you anyway. When life knocked you down, remember it was his grace that picked you up.

Grace is only God... you look at your life and know but God....
You didn't deserve it but he did it anyway, he gave you grace.

Here's the thing, you cant preach the gospel thinking you were born clean, like you havent done anything wrong in your life.
Acting like you are better than another because ignorance is costly.
You cant just go around telling people that they are going to hell because they did this or that. Who are you to preach? When you are not perfect, it is only with God's grace that you are still here.

Christian are sometimes ignorant, they will scare non believers away. Christians that take scriptures out of content and use it for their purpose. They get mad at the pastor, they get mad at social media, when they don't want to hear the truth, they want to act like they themselves didn't ever do anything wrong.

If you know that we are all messed up, that we are all human, that we all fail, we would never point the finger at someone else. We do  because we don't know what the word says.
"He who has no sin cast the first stone"
We are all with sin.

We are sent into the world to be the salt and the light but we don't know how to deal with our jobs, with our families or relationships because we don't know the word well enough.

We know more about television series, about who is doing what on social media and about movie stars than we know about God and his word.

How can we know more about television series then the word? Where have we gone wrong? That we put  these movies stars and sports people on pedestals, higher than God?
Then we look up to people that we have no idea who they truly are and what they believe in just because they are famous.

Maybe we do this because  a lot of people feel like they are alone.
Loneliness and isolation will lead you into a conversation you may not be ready for.
So ask yourself what your pastor is teaching you? What is the church teaching you, that is not enough, so you are now listening to others?

Who are you talking to?
People who try to trick us?
We are supposed to grow healthy but we can only grow healthy, if your full of his love.

If someone has hate or hateful comments in their voice, stay away from those people.
How are we going to change the world when we are so full of hate? We need to love, we are commanded to love.

You don't have to be a friend to everyone but we are commanded to love everyone.

It's not about when your blessed that you give thanks or feel love but it's when you are tested, it's how you respond then that shows your a Christian.
Always seek to improve your understanding, the  errors of your personal life. Use the past relationships to be better, you use the criticism to be a better you. Use the betrayal to be better partner.

We think not dealing with our issues, that they will fall into place, we need to learn these issues are here for a reason, it's to teach us lessons.
But we are hard headed, at least I know I am and that the quick work God wanted to do with you, you didn't listen and so your still here, killing the opportunity he had for you.

Your still walking 40 years for a message that meant to take 3 days because you don't listen.

So to become better you need to be:
1. You become grounded in the faith.
"Consider it pure joy, whenever you face trails of many kinds"

2. You get to experience the results of God's word.
"We overcome by the word of our testimonies"

3. You gain knowledge that will help you silence the critics.

4. Your better prepared to complete your faith journey.

"I have fought the good fight and I have remained faithful and now the prize awaits me"

We all want the prize that God has for us in the end so we must take ownership of our spiritual  development first.

"Be the change you want to see"

"And just when the caterpillar thought his life over...he turned into a beautiful butterfly"
